1. Local District 5 Instructional Technology Leader Meeting for November

The second volunteer technology leadership/coordinator meeting of 2008-2009 for Local District 5 will be held 3:30-5:15pm on Thursday, November 20, 2008 at the ITD ITTB Training Room 2, Local District 5, 2151 N. Soto Street, Los Angeles, CA 90032. This meeting will highlight LAUSD student single sign-on accounts for use in instruction. This will include how students in our district access tools such as Digital Library, Google Docs, and Sites. Attendance is voluntary but does also provide an occasion when technology leaders can share ideas as well as learn about the latest in instructional technology.

2. Instructional Technology Outreach – Available Workshops

Instructional Technology Outreach of the Los Angeles County Office of Education is offering various workshops that focus on topics related to technology use in our schools. Below is a list of some of those workshops.

4. Ed Tech Workshops – Earn More Salary Credit

LAUSD Certificated Staff seeking further opportunities to earn salary credit as they learn more about ways to engage students using technology can request courses from Ed Tech Workshops at http://www.edtechworkshops.com/ in order to accomplish that goal. Alternatively, teachers can contact David Boin at (818) 785-0164 or david.boin @ edtechworkshops.com.


5. CUE Los Angeles Innovative Technology Mini-Grant

Computer-Using Educators of Los Angeles (CUELA) is sponsoring the Innovative Technology Mini- Grant to support CUELA members interested in developing inspiring and innovative applications of technology in the classroom based on the California Content Standards. CUELA will support a limited number of projects with awards of $250 to $1000. If selected, grant winners will be asked to provide CUELA with a summary of successful outcomes. Those interested in applying should submit an application at http://www.cuehub.org/cuela

The deadline to submit a grant application will be February 5, 2009.
